Conservatorship/GuardianshipConservatorship
Prior to the granting
of any Guardianship or Conservatorship, State law now requires Court Visitor Fee Increase to Take Effect September 1, 2008 Conservatorship - A conservator is one who is appointed by the court to manage the estate of a protected person. A Conservatorship may be opened for a minor or for an adult person who is unable to manage their property and affairs for reasons such as mental illness, mental deficiency, physical illness or disability, chronic use of drugs, chronic intoxication, confinement (15-14-401 C.R.S.) The court may appoint an individual,
a trust company, or a bank with general power to serve as trustee, as

Guardianship (Adult) - A guardian is a person lawfully vested with the power and charged with the duty of taking care of the person. An incapacitated person is defined as any person who is impaired by reason of mental illness, mental deficiency, physical illness or disability, chronic use of drugs, chronic intoxication, or other cause to the extent that he/she lacks sufficient understanding or capacity to make or communicate responsible decisions concerning his/her person (15-14-101(1) C.R.S.).
