The Denver Probate Court, sometimes referred to as the 24th Judicial District, encompasses all of the City and County of Denver. The Colorado Constitution Article VI § 9(3) created the Denver Probate Court and defines its jurisdiction. The Probate Court has exclusive jurisdiction over "all matters of probate, settlements of estates of deceased persons, appointment of guardians, conservators and administrators, and settlement of their accounts, the adjudication of the mentally ill, and such other jurisdiction as may be provided by law."

  • On Sunday, -May 2, 2010 the Denver Post published an article implying that the Denver Probate Court has failed properly to monitor the actions of the Denver Public Administrator in regards to the sales of certain properties from decedent’s estates.  In order to determine what, if any, action should be taken, the court asked the Public Administrator’s office to respond to the allegations in the article.  The Public Administrator’s response is linked here [Read response].  - Posted May 4, 2010

    ALL requests for hearing times now go through Sarah Solano. You may contact Sarah by email at sarah.solano@judicial.state.co.us.

    Uncontested guardianship and conservatorship matters (respondent has consented to the appointment of the guardian or conservator and there is NO OTHER issue) will be heard every Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Attorneys only may “self assign” a hearing time between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (starting on any hour, quarter hour , half hour, or three-quarter hour) for an uncontested guardianship or conservatorship  by giving proper prior notice (10 business days plus 3 days for mailing) to all interested parties and to the Court.  Pro se parties will coordinate with the Court’s staff to set hearing dates.
